Note: This is part of an ongoing series introducing patterns at the Tampa C# Meetup. DoFactory site fulfilled that partially. More than a decade ago by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides known as the Gang of Four (GoF) published their seminal book "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software". The GOF wrote a widely publicised and well known book "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software". I would strongly recommend Agile Principles, Patterns, and Practices in C# as a good read if you do object oriented development. To be aware of Design Patterns, I tried lot of articles / books though I'm aware of GOF. In design pattern we often listen the term Gang of Four, GOF, or GO4. How do the MVP, MVC, and MVVM patterns relate? Singleton is presented as one of the Creational pattern in Gang of Four's famous Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. It was because of that that I came across Design Patterns and the GoF (Gang of Four, referring to the 4 authors of the seminal and original work, “Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software” found here on Amazon). However, I find myself using the Head First Design graphical depictions of the patterns. Gang of four is nothing to do with technical sense, it's name of four authors(Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides) of book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. Introduction No introduction to patterns is complete The Design Patterns book, commonly referred to as the Gang of Four because of the four authors, is the baseline must-have book in this space. As I'm passionate about C#, I tried to read books / Articles that explains well about the GOF patterns with C#. What is the Repository pattern? In next posts, I will pick each one of original 23 GOF design patterns, discuss pros, cons & need, UML diagrams for patterns and simple code illustration in C#. The term “design patterns” originates from a book published in 1994, Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. What are some examples of anti-patterns? But later one of my friend strongly argued with me and presented me with the native GOF "Design Patterns - Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software" book and asked me to get into that.
